Learning support

L’Ecole des Petits is a non-selective school which welcomes pupils from different cultural, linguistic or academic backgrounds. We celebrate and respect differences and pupils with specific needs are valued in the same way as any other child.

We assist pupils in many different ways including developing reading comprehension and spelling skills, personal organisation and social skills… Support is given within the class and/or in one to one sessions or small groups by member of staff working closely with the form teacher.

Our teachers and educational team provide a caring environment that enables all pupils to fulfil their potential and to feel positive about their learning.

Individual plans offered from UK or French authorities can be used in order to support our pupils who are diagnosed with neurodivergence conditions such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or the autism spectrum (ASD).

Extra provisions such as Occupational/Speech therapist sessions are not funded by the school. Any specialist involved in the child’s development will be integrated into our educational team in order to optimise the process of support.

Some children with more severe needs will need a LSA (Learning Support assistant) to accompany them to lessons on a daily basis. This ensures that the child can access the learning and is a useful way to facilitate social interaction. If the child has an EHCP, this can be funded by the council; if not this needs to be funded by the parent.

Our staff regularly and frequently communicate with parents to ensure that they are fully informed and part of their child’s progress.

The teaching staff are able to tailor their teaching to the individual needs of children’s learning and their abilities.
